🌟October is Bullying Prevention Month!🌟

At #BedfordCountySchools, we believe every #student deserves to learn in a safe, supportive and respectful environment. Bullying has no place in our schools, and together, we can build a culture of kindness, empathy and inclusion.🤝💖

This month is a reminder that small acts of respect and support can make a big difference in the lives of our #students. Let’s work together to ensure that all students feel valued, heard and empowered to be their best selves.🤝🫶

🌟 Empowering Our School Leaders & Student Support Team at SCALI! 🌟

Recently, Bedford County Schools school counselors, Community in Schools partners, administrators, and our SEL & Mental Health Supervisor came together at the School Counselor and Administrators Leadership Institute (SCALI) to learn, grow and connect. 💼✨🤝

This year’s theme, Passion, Purpose, Position!, encouraged participants to reflect on the important role they play in supporting #students and strengthening school communities.

Throughout SCALI, participants explored critical topics including trauma, mental health support, behavior intervention strategies, collaboration and more. These professional learning opportunities provide valuable tools and insights to help our team respond to #student needs and create supportive learning environments. 🧠🌱🏫

#CommunityHighSchool Counselor Jordan Tatom also led a professional development session, Defined by Law, Guided by Ethics: Maximizing the School Counselor Role, sharing his expertise with fellow school counselors and administrators.

We’re proud of the commitment our team continues to make to professional growth and to strengthening the support available to students across Bedford County Schools. 💛🖤

🌎🎉 Hispanic Heritage Month Classroom Celebration 🎉🌎
Fifth grade teacher Odeneal and ESL teacher Dr. G presented a lesson celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Students connected their ELA study of Lewis and Clark and Indian Country in the 1800s with the histories of Indigenous peoples in Spanish-speaking countries. Together, they compared cultures, foods, education, and natural resources, sharing what they learned about similarities and differences across the Americas. We had a great time learning about these communities and appreciating their lasting contributions.
🌮🥑❤️A special thank-you to the mother of our student Ashley Farlow-Landon for generously donating chips and salsa for our celebration.
