Dear Parents and Guardians,
Your child will soon take part in the Presidential Fitness Test, a short fitness assessment that helps students learn more about their cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength. Testing is scheduled to take place during regular physical education classes with make-up opportunities provided as needed.
The test includes six options grouped into three categories. Students will complete one event from each category.
CATEGORY | TEST OPTIONS |
Core Strength | Sit-Ups or Plank |
Cardiovascular Endurance | 1-Mile Run or 20-Meter Beep Test |
Upper Body Strength | Push-Ups or Pull-Ups |
Our physical education program focuses on developing lifelong healthy habits, movement skills, and personal fitness. The Presidential Fitness Test serves as a benchmark tool within our broader, physical education curriculum. It provides students with a picture of their physical endurance and strength, helping them set personal goals, measure individual progress over time, and celebrate their accomplishments.
· How Results Will Be Used
The scores will be used to help students understand their personal fitness growth, guide instruction, and keep families informed.
· Personal Tracking: Test results are primarily used to help students understand their baseline and work toward individual growth throughout the year.
· Curriculum Adjustment: Test results help us tailor our PE activities to better support student needs in endurance, core stability, and upper-body strength.
Students who meet the criteria for all three tests will receive a Presidential Award or a National Certificate.
